Did you know many of our EBC bikes take their names from popular Tesla models? Our founder, Sean Lupton-Smith has long been a fan of Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Tesla was founded 17 years ago by a group of engineers who wanted to develop an electric car that was faster, more fun to drive and much better for the environment than gasoline powered cars.
Fast forward to 2014 and Lupton-Smith took a leaf out of fellow South African Elon Musk’s book and founded the Electric Bike Company right here in the US with the aim of helping create real and lasting change in the world. Inspired by Musk’s Model S, the world’s first ever electric sedan built from the ground up, he first launched the Model C, a classically styled electric cruiser also built from the ground up. The Model S quickly followed – offering a classic step-through style electric cruiser.
