In our hometown of Newport Beach, CA, we embrace eternal summer and are grateful for the opportunity to ride in nearly year-round beautiful weather. But, as Thanksgiving approaches, even we can admit to yearning to catch the golden colors of fall.This great country of ours boasts some of the most beautiful country for doing just that!
So, whether you’re lucky enough to live just around the bend from one of these beautiful fall foliage trails or it’s a bucket list destination ride, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite US trails to catch some of the most stunning season colors. Some of the following trails are Class 1 and must be ridden with pedal assist, not using the throttle. We recommend confirming details before heading to any trail.
- Blue Ridge Parkway in Swain County, North Carolina. This trail has more than 450 miles of idyllic views throughout Virginia and North Carolina. Plus, with elevation ranging from 649 to 6,053 feet, the trail offers a wide-variety of fall foliage, temperatures, and views.
- Natchez Trace Parkway through Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Nearly 450 miles of trail designated by the National Park Service as a bike route. Unspoiled and scenic, the trail has gorgeous views at every turn.
- Kentucky Bourbon Trail in Lexington, Kentucky. Offering three bike tours, mapped and published by the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, that range from 50 miles to 150 miles, these trails take riders by beautiful fall colors, legendary bluegrass horse farms, and six famous distilleries.
- Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville, South Carolina. A 22-mile stretch of multi-use greenway, the Swamp Rabbit Trail follows along the Reedy River, passing lots of seasonal colors, an old railroad corridor, and city parks.
- East Shore Trail in Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada. A picturesque paradise, this iconic 10-feet wide paved trail is a multi-use path for biking, walking, and running. Offering stunning views of the lake, native wildlife, and fall foliage, this is one of our favorites.
