When we think autumn colors in the US, we think Upstate New York, Vermont, Aspen, maybe parts of Oregon…all of which can rightfully claim great places to see fall foliage. However, Southern California, while touted for year-round beautiful weather (a place of never-ending summer), also has some great spots to catch the golden colors of fall.
At Electric Bike Company there are few things we like better than a great path or trail to take the joy of e-biking to the next-level. In the spirit of the season, we’ve compiled some of our favorite Southern California trails to catch some seasonal colors and . Most of the following trails are Class 1 and must be ridden with pedal assist, not using the throttle. We recommend confirming details before heading to any trail.
- Los Peñasquitos Canyon Creak Trails in San Diego County near Solana Beach. There are a variety of trails and the area is highly biodiverse with more than 500 plant species lending itself to lots of color potential.
- Butler Peak Fire Lookout Trail in Big Bear offers a 12-mile easy dirt trail starting at the north side of Big Bear Lake. The route goes through forest, as well as burn areas, but offers beautiful 360-degree views of Big Bear Lake and the LA Basin.
